Nice to meet you! I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). If you’re looking to gain insight, learn to better manage, or even overcome your symptoms my experience is in treating codependency, depression, anxiety and related, underlying trauma. I also have training experience in mental health and nutrition. My goal is to help you establish healthier behaviors, routine and achieve a healthy mindset.
I began my career working with substance use disorders and mental health disorders in 2006. The first 13 years of my career were centered on helping individuals and families recover from substance use disorders which often included co-morbid mental health disorders. The latter part of my career has been primarily focused on women’s health. I have specialized in helping to support women who are facing infertility, loss or miscarriage, perinatal and postpartum mood shifts. I truly enjoy supporting women while they navigate motherhood and all that this brings. I work with men and women age 18 and up.
I use a holistic approach to therapy with a focus in the following areas of Mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Family Systems. In this work, I love to help people heal and grow in their relationship with self and others. I am a trauma informed therapist who is skilled in treating PTSD, Anxiety, Depression, Grief, Life Transitions, and Mood Disorders.
I am a certified yoga teacher, and I believe it is important to incorporate the body into therapy. I incorporate body centered techniques to help people engage with their nervous system and take back control of their stress response. Whether you or a loved one is struggling with ongoing mood disorder symptoms or are going through a difficult life experience I can help to empower you to feel more grounded and more confident in your ability to manage hard times. By changing our thoughts and behaviors we can improve our relationship with ourselves as well as with those around us.
Welcome to my Headway profile! I'm Sarah G., holding a Master’s in Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling. In 2017, I went back to school to expand my skills, earning licenses in mental health and becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP-I). Additionally, I hold an Advanced Certified Clinical Trauma Specialist (ACCTS) certification and have completed specialized trauma training. With over 13 years of diverse experience in mental health roles, I am committed to continuously improving my therapy skills to better support you.
When I began seeing a therapist, I realized just how much I needed an outlet to process hardships in my life and to feel genuinely heard, and this is exactly what I want to provide to clients who come to see me. As I have advanced in my own self-discovery and identity exploration, I have become interested in helping others in the LGBTQIA+, neurodivergent (specifically autism and ADHD), and disability communities on their own journeys. I believe that having lived experience related to my specialties is a fundamental component to the care I can provide.
Are you a chronic overthinker? Feel like a black cloud follows you wherever you go? Does your ADHD brain struggle to focus or motivate yourself in your daily life? Do you find yourself stuck worrying about worst-case scenarios? Feel alone & overwhelmed with fears? If you relate to any of these questions, you have come to the right place. My name is Alyssa and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). I have been a therapist for 9 years after graduating with my Master’s Degree from Chestnut Hill College in 2017 & also have a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts from Gettysburg College. Join me in a journey to living your best life.
